Layne Staley revealed to Argentinean Journalist/Author Adriana Rubio the harsh truth behind heroin addiction. He gave Rubio his blessing to tell the truth on how his last living months were, in hopes that someday people don't do drugs and can understand how painful the every day living of a drug addict is. Although Staley didn't like much talking to journalists, he finally made his sad statement and, Adriana Rubio was the only one from the media who spoke with him just months before his death. It is also revealed why the singer’s mother withdrew support to the “Angry Chair” book.

Layne Staley’s story has been told by his mother, sister and Layne himself. It deals with his childhood, teen years, his parents’ divorce problems, the drug use of his father as well as his own heroin use, his career as the lead singer for “Alice In Chains” and his last interview as he broke his five-year public silence just months before his death. The material includes family pictures as well as drawings, ceramics and poetry made by Layne Staley’s own hands.

But lead singer Layne Staley couldn't handle many of the pressures that were associated with being a huge star on display to the world. He died early and tragic death of an accidental overdose of heroin and crack in 2002.

Author Adriana Rubio, who also wrote Jim Morrison Ceremony, offers homage to Staley in Get Born Again, a book filled with interviews with family members, drawings and lyrics Layne did himself, his own words before he died, and photos of Layne as he grew up and became a rock singer fraught with addiction and dysfunction.
